How to communicate with your spouse about money?
We all know that communication is key in any relationship. When it comes to managing your finances, it’s no different.
One of the biggest mistakes we make as men is assuming that we know what our wives want when it comes to money. We think that we’re doing them a favor by buying them expensive gifts or planning extravagant vacations. When in reality, that’s not what they want at all. And that’s where the problem lies – we’re not communicating effectively.
So, here’s the deal. Take some time to sit down with your spouse and ask them what their big money goal is for the year. Maybe they want to invest in a new business venture, or take a trip to Europe, or pay off their student loans. Whatever it is, make sure you listen and take note.
Once you know what your spouse’s big money goal is, you can work together to make it happen. This is where financial management comes in. You can adjust your budget, cut back on unnecessary expenses, and divide more funds toward achieving your shared goal.
